When we are born we have the capacity within our natural limitations to be anything however through the process of introjection and creative adjustment this can limit our belief as to who we are and what we can become. This can lead to a fixed self and a this is who i am idea of who we are. The implications of this become apparent in the way we speak dress listen see and how we relate to others as well as our values outlook and whether we are aggressive passive or assertive. In this book we shall look more closely at introjection and creative adjustment and the formation of the self concept. Part of this may also lead to anxiety anger depression or stress as our needs are either met not fulfilled or from the pressure to maintain a false self to others or to look to others for approval confirmation or recognition. We shall then look at our growth as a person and taking responsibility for our own life and living our life with greater freedom and authenticity.
